PVT. THOMAS KELLY

Our DAV Chapter 179 will refurbish the medal of honor grave site and rededicate when finished.  Pvt. Kelly fought during the Spanish American War and died Dec. 17, 1920. His plaque reads: H Company, 21st US Infantry, Santiago do Cuba, 1 July 1898, Born Ireland, Place of Entry: New York, NY, Citation, 22 June 1899, Gallantly Assisted In the Rescue of The Wounded from In Front of the Lines While Under Heavy Fire From the Enemy, MEDAL OF HONOR.

The plaque we read was dedicated by the men and women of the 380th Group HQ SQ, 1 Sept 1980, and rededicated by 8th AF, NCOLS, class 90E, 5 April 1990.

This is the progress of the project that we at the DAV are doing at the old base oval. We would like to thank all that have donated and helped us on the way. We hope to have most of it done by the end of the summer 2006 I will be adding more pictures as we get things done.
